Tableau Setup

The Zuar Portal Tableau integration allows connecting Tableau instance to Portal and seamless authentication for Tableau blocks.

Overview

  1. Create a Connected app within the Tableau Site. Learn more.

Create Connected app

A Connected App is one of the authentication methods provided by Tableau. Learn more

  1. Log in as admin user to a Tableau Site that you would like to connect to the Portal.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Connected Apps.
  3. Click New Connected App.
  4. Enter a name in Domain Allowlist select All domains or enter prefered domains that will have access for more precise access control.
  5. Your connected app has been created! Now click Generate New Secret to create a credentials for you Connected App
  6. Collect required values: Client ID, Secret ID, Secret Value.
  7. Navigate to Settings > Connected Apps again.
  8. Locate you connected app and click on three dots in Actions column
  9. Click Enable in dropdown list.

Portal Tableau Integration

To connect you Thoughtspot instance to the Portal you can use Admin's Integrations section. Admin's Integrations section

  1. Enable Thoguthspot integration Thoughtspot Integration
  2. Click on Tableau Connected App Credentials field to open dropdown and click + Create New Credentials Thoughtspot Integration
  3. Enter values that were collected on Create Connected App step. Thoughtspot Integration
  4. Fill Tableau URL and Tableau Site fields. Thoughtspot Integration
  5. Click Save Thoughtspot Integration
  6. This is it! Your Tableau integration is complete.

Portal User Sync

Portal provides an ability to synchronize users and groups data. Portal will create users, groups and their relationships within the Portal infrastructure.

  1. Follow all steps described in Portal Tableau Integration.
  2. Toggle Tableau user sync checkbox and enter a username of user with Admin premissions. Thoughtspot Integration
  3. This is it! Tableau will run throught sync proccess periodically.
